About Us

A small press with strong opinions.

Bradbury Publishers began with a simple irritation: too many good manuscripts were being treated like transactions. We built the press we'd want to publish with.

Why we exist

In 2013 our founder, an editor who had spent a decade inside larger New York houses, kept meeting the same writer: talented, committed, and completely alone. Big publishers wanted a guaranteed bestseller. Vanity presses wanted a check. Nobody wanted to sit down and ask, “What does this book actually need?”

So we built Bradbury Publishers around that question. We're an independent, author-friendly house serving writers in all 50 states — from first-time novelists in Ohio to executives in New York and memoirists in Texas. We'll tell you honestly if your manuscript isn't ready — and then we'll help you get it there. We'll tell you when a service you asked for is the wrong one. We'll never charge for a quote, and we'll never pretend a bestseller can be promised.

What we can promise: careful editing to The Chicago Manual of Style, design that respects your genre, printing and distribution that works on Amazon, Ingram and Barnes & Noble, and a human being who answers your emails — usually within one business day. Your name goes on the cover. Your rights stay with you. That's the whole philosophy, and it hasn't changed in over a decade.
